Letters to Marjor William Preston [manuscript] 1804 May 3 and 1808 July 25.

Lewis writes a letter of introduction for "Peter Choteau," 1804 May 3. In a letter, 1808 July 25, he discusses his failure to find a wife; his inability to find an appointment for a friend; notes the troublesome Indians; and writes at length about the advantages of Louisiana and Missouri. The collection also contains a copy of an obituary for Dr. Robert A. Price of New Madrid, an Albemarle County native and Civil War veteran.
